Kilbarron National School, Ballyshannon Co. Donegal

Ethos and Mission Statement

Ethos

Kilbarron National School is a Church of Ireland primary school under the patronage of the Bishop of Derry & Raphoe.

Our school is a community where all pupils are equally valued and respected, irrespective of gender, social background, family circumstances, educational achievement, physical characteristics, or intellectual ability.

Pupils experience a sense of caring and belonging and they are treated fairly. Their spiritual, moral and religious development is encouraged as is their intellectual, academic, and social development.

We aim to nurture the moral values of honesty, truthfulness, justice, fairness, sensitivity to others and civic responsibility.

Kilbarron National School is a school with a Church of Ireland ethos; however, it also has due respect for other faiths. The school is part of the local church community of St. Anne’s Church. Pupils are to be encouraged to participate in church events and services.

Moral issues which arise are influenced by the traditions and teaching of the Church of Ireland and this school nurtures freedom of thought and a personal relationship with God.

Mission Statement

At Kilbarron NS, we wish to provide a safe, happy environment which is conducive to the holistic development of each individual child.  Each pupil will be considered unique and all parties within the school community will focus on developing the moral, spiritual, physical, academic, aesthetic, and cultural aspects of each child.

This we envisage occurring in an atmosphere of mutual respect.  All members of the school community are dedicated to work together in a spirit of encouragement and enthusiasm to advance the development of each pupil towards attaining their true potential while recognising, accepting and celebrating diversity.
