Attendance
Regular attendance is crucial to your child's progress. To enable the school to fulfil its obligations under the Education Welfare Act parents/guardians are asked to email the school on the first day their child is absent. We ask parents/guardians to outline the reason for their child's absence as schools are obliged to keep detailed records of all student absences on Aladdin. Parents are reminded that in accordance with the Educational Welfare Act the school has a duty to report any child who has missed twenty days or more in one academic year to the Education Welfare Board. Missing time from school is a significant factor in educational performance.
Categories of absences to be reported to Education Welfare Board include:
- Illness
- Urgent Family Reasons e.g. Bereavement
- Expelled
- Suspended
- Other (Use Comment Column) e.g. holidays
- Unexplained - the school has not received a written explanation for absence
- Transfer to another school
